Options for architectural hinges

  • Non-Removable Pin (NRP)- locks hinge pin to hinge; provides added security on exterior doors

Full mortise

  • For use with wood or hollow metal doors
  • Both hinge leaves are mortised (one in the door edge and one in the frame rabbet)

Half mortise (mortise in door)

  • One hinge leaf is mortised into the door edge and one leaf is surface applied to the frame face
  • Normally used with steel frames that can’t be mortised or when a door is rehung and previous hinge locations on the frame must be avoided

Half surface (surface on door)

  • One hinge leaf is surface mounted to the door surface and one leaf is mortised into the frame rabbet
  • Used where the door cannot be mortised

Continuous hinges

  • New construction and retrofit
  • For use on heavy or high frequency use doors
  • Continuous vertical support distributes the door weight evenly and helps prevent sagging
  • Standard hinge lengths are 1” less the door opening height
  • Models available for use on lead lined doors
  • Available with fire ratings up to 3 hours/ULA
  • Standard and customized finishes available
  • Geared Hinges
    • Aluminum only
    • Ordered in anodized or powder coated finishes
    • Full Surface, full surface swing clear, half surface, full mortise swing clear, full concealed leaf
  • Pin & Barrel Hinges
    Full mortise, half mortise & half surface, full surface flush, full surface swing clear, full mortise adjustable edge

Spring hinges

  • A hinge containing one or more springs to move the door into the closed position
  • Types available for single or double acting doors
  • Closes door and eliminates the need for a closer
  • May not meet ADA requirements for opening force

Electric transfer hinges & pivots

  • For transferring electrical power to hardware mounted on the doors, such as electric locks, electric exit devices, electric strikes when mounted on the inactive leaf of a pair of doors
  • Monitoring hinges are also available; can monitor door position

Offset hung pivot sets

  • Supplied with bottom and top pivot as a set
  • Various offsets available (3/4” and 1 1/2” most common)
  • For use on doors weighing up to 1000 lbs.
  • Can be used on fire door assemblies up to 3 hours
  • Single acting
  • Intermediate pivots are recommended for all doors over 5’0” high to maintain fire ratings or door warranties
  • Models available for lead lined doors

Center hung pivots

  • Supplied with bottom and top pivot as a set
  • For use on doors weighing up to 1800 lbs.
  • Single or double acting (double acting for non fire rated units only)

Swing clear hinges

  • Designed to swing doors completely clear of opening when door is opened 95 degrees
  • Available in standard or heavy weight

Anchor hinges

  • For use on heavy weight doors receiving high frequency use
  • Available in standard or heavy weight
  • Hinges are handed
  • Non-rising removable pin standard

Double acting spring hinges

  • For use on double acting doors
  • Door can open in either direction and automatically close
  • Adjustable spring tension
  • Sizes available to accommodate your door

Invisible hinges

  • For use with doors where a concealed hinge (when door is closed) is desired
  • Available for metal, wood, and plastic doors
  • Up to 3-hour fire rated hinges available
  • Hinge size is dependent on door thickness
    Light duty - 3/4” min. door thickness
    Medium duty - 1 1/8” min. door thickness
    Heavy duty - 1 3/4” min. door thickness

Gravity door pivots

  • Double acting, non-handed
  • For use on light weight doors
  • Closes door by gravity
  • Hold-open at 90 degrees available
  • Door weight and size limitations may vary by model and manufacturer

Horizontal spring pivots

  • Double acting, non-handed
  • Maximum door weight is 120 lbs., maximum door size is 3’
  • Hold-open at 85 degrees available
  • Adjustable spring tension
  • Also available with floor plate or jamb bracket
  • Available in a number of architectural finishes

Reinforcing pivot

  • For use with heavy or very wide doors
  • Solves door sag problems
  • Installs without special preparation
  • When installed, the pivot point is aligned with the center line of the hinge
  • Widths available: 3 1/2”, 4”, 4 1/2”, 5”
